This hand-carved miniature Ashanti Stool is a scaled-down version of the traditional royal seat of the Ashanti people of Ghana. Exquisitely crafted to bring cultural depth and artistry to any modern space.

Perfectly sized for bookshelves, console tables, or curio collections, this miniature Ashanti stool carries the same heritage and symbolism as its full-sized counterpart. Each piece is lovingly carved by an Ashanti artisan using sustainably sourced hardwood.

Each stool is handmade, making every piece truly unique. As a result, slight variations in size, shape, and finish may occur. These natural differences are part of the stool’s character and craftsmanship, not imperfections.

This stool is handmade in Ghana by our experienced artisans. 

Our artisans carefully obtain their wood from reforestation projects and also make use of repurposed wood to craft a variety of products. 

The soul of our work lies in the material itself. They skillfully transform repurposed wood, gathered under the strict oversight into high-quality masterpieces.

The rich history of each reclaimed piece is preserved and enhanced through meticulous craftsmanship and a strong quality control process. 

The result is a juxtaposition of premium-quality product, exceptional traditional techniques and a story of ethical, sustainable sourcing.

Design & Symbolism

Mmarima Dwa specifically refers to the stool used by men in decision-making gatherings, symbolizing courage, readiness to serve, and communal responsibility. It reflects ideals of manhood grounded in honor, protection, and moral integrity not dominance, but stewardship and guardianship.

Care

Each stool is a unique, handcrafted piece made from natural wood. With proper care, it will last for generations and retain its beauty and character.

Cleaning

  • Dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp (not wet) microfiber cloth.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals, detergents, or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the wood’s natural finish.

Conditioning

  • Nourish the wood with a natural furniture wax, beeswax polish, or mineral oil.
  • Apply a thin layer with a soft cloth, let it absorb for a few minutes, and then buff gently to restore luster.
  • This helps prevent drying, cracking, and warping.

Placement

  • Keep the stool away from direct sunlight, radiators, or heat vents, as excessive heat can cause the wood to dry out or fade.
  • Avoid placing it in damp or humid areas, which can lead to swelling or mold growth.
  • Use felt pads under the legs if placing on delicate flooring.

Use

  • Minor scratches or marks can be gently buffed out with fine-grain sandpaper, followed by reapplying wood oil or wax.
